David “Pops” Doersch has been teaching and choreographing violence for much of the past 30 years. Over those years, he has trained countless students. His work has been seen on such stages as The Guthrie Theatre, The Crossroads Theatre, The Dallas Theatre Center, American Players Theatre, the Minnesota Opera, Virginia Stage Company, and many more. A founding member of the International Order of the Sword and the Pen, Pops has taught at training programs and theaters all over the United States, as well as Canada, England, Scotland, Sweden, Estonia, Egypt, South Africa and Japan. A strong believer in the principle of “Beauty in Violence,” Pops challenges his students to rise above standard ‘bish-bash-bosh’ execution, and to instead interpret grace into their stage violence.
